The McKinney/Hairston Story: The Perfect Wedding Venue for a Fairy Tale Event

Some might say it was fate that brought Jordyn and Cameron together. And fate came in the shape of a dog. When Cameron’s dog got stuck in a fence on a walk, Jordyn helped him out, and the love story began there. The two were in college at the time, Jordyn at UNCG and Cameron at NCA&T, but it turns out they had grown up just a few miles from each other. With both families having strong roots in Greensboro and Guilford County, there were a lot of connections already between different family members. totally unknown to Cameron and Jordyn, which made everything just seem to fall into place. So when the two got engaged in July 2024, they knew one thing was certain – they would be planning a big wedding.

“Both of us have big families, and of course, we wanted to include them and all of our friends in our celebration,” Jordyn says. “It’s just such a special time, and we wanted to share it with the people we love.”

Love at First Sight

The first thing Jordyn did after getting engaged was to look for a venue. She and Cameron had a date picked out, and she knew it was important to get to work fast to find just the right place. With a guest list of more than 250, Jordyn’s first priority was to find a venue capable of accommodating a large party.

Luckily, Legacy Stables and Events met that criteria. But it was so much more that won over Cameron and Jordyn. “I knew as soon as we started out on the tour that we had found the perfect place for our wedding,” Jordyn says. “I had always dreamed of an outdoor wedding, but worried about the weather. When I saw the stallway at Grace Barn, I immediately fell in love. It was exactly what I was looking for to give us that outdoor feel, but with the ability to have people inside where they could be comfortable in the hottest days of summer, and also we wouldn’t have to worry about rain.”

It wasn’t just the stallway that swayed the couple. Cameron loved the fact that the venue included Robert’s Quarters, a place for the groomsmen to hang out and have fun the day of the wedding, rather than being confined to a small room. And Jordyn fell in love with Grace Barn. “It was big enough to accommodate our guests, but more importantly, it didn’t feel like a big open hall. I knew it would be the perfect backdrop for the romantic, European-inspired wedding I envisioned, and suggested an intimate feeling even with a large crowd,” Jordyn says.

Bringing the Vision to Life

The day of the wedding, Jordyn and Cameron walked into the reception immediately after the ceremony, and what they saw took the new bride’s breath away. “Everything Legacy did just came together, and it was all so beautiful,” Jordyn says. “It was my vision come to life.”

Jordyn credits a few things to helping that vision become a reality:

  • Great communication. The staff at Legacy Stables and Events were there to discuss the plans and what the couple wanted from the beginning. And a great response to questions throughout made the whole process easy.
  • All-inclusive packages. From tablecloths to dinnerware, the fact that Legacy Stables and Events could provide everything helped cut down on the amount of work necessary for Jordyn and freed up her time for things like finding a dress and sampling wedding cakes.
  • In-house catering. Jordyn and Cameron took advantage of Legacy Stables and Events’ catering services, which meant the food was not only delicious, but hot and fresh as it was prepared onsite that day.
  • Full-service support. Not only does Legacy Stables and Events have a venue that can accommodate large events, but it also has a parking space to back that up. Jordyn and Cameron appreciated that the staff was on hand the day of the wedding to help direct and assist with parking.

The Big Takeaway

Having come through the year’s worth of planning and experiencing the fun of the final celebration of the wedding day, Jordyn is glad to pass along some advice to newly engaged couples. “Look for your venue right away,” she says. “Whether you want a specific date, or you have a large crowd, or are looking for a particular type of atmosphere, places get booked up fast. It’s important to get your site nailed down early on, so you can focus on the other things. Like finding a dress!”
