When you get engaged, there is often a lot of excitement in the air! This excitement is shortly followed by a lot of decisions that you’ll need to make about your wedding, one of the most important being where your wedding will be held. With so many options available these days, your creativity is the limit as to where you’d like to tie the knot. Often the rest of the wedding is themed or planned around the location and atmosphere of the wedding venue, so choosing a venue ASAP is crucial. So, when should you nail down your wedding venue? The answer is simple: the earlier, the better!

Many new couples should plan on reserving their desired wedding venue anywhere from nine months to a year before their actual wedding. Because wedding seasons can cause wedding venues to fill up quickly, you’ll need to decide if a certain date or a certain place is more important in some cases. If you want a certain place during peak wedding season (spring to early summer) then you might have to be flexible on your wedding date. However, if date is more important, then you’ll need to work with the wedding venue’s schedule and plan well in advance, sometimes even a year or two.

Always be sure that you know the wedding venue’s policies on things like cancellation, services provided, capacity, etc. These crucial details can make planning your wedding much simpler.
