One of the first things on your to-do list after getting engaged should be to choose a wedding venue. Why first? Because venues book up quickly, and if you have a place in mind already, you will want to nail down your date and put in a deposit as soon as possible. Yes, even before going to search for the perfect dress!
The advice we give most often here at Legacy Stables and Events is to be flexible with your wedding date if you are set on a specific venue or be prepared to plan very far in advance, as much as a year or even longer. If you’re flexible on what date you would like to get married and have a range of dates in mind, you will have more of a chance of getting the venue you prefer.
With that in mind, in the days immediately following your engagement, it is smart to set up tours at a few wedding venues, to get a feel for what is available and what each one offers. We have come up with a list of questions to help you thoroughly vet each location and do the research needed to compare and make the decision of where to hold your wedding.
Question for the venue:
- Here are some dates I prefer. What is your availability?
2. Will our wedding be the only event that day, or do you schedule multiple events?
3. Do you have reduced rates available for off-peak dates or times?
4. What is your fee structure, and what does it include?
5. What is the deposit amount, and when is the final payment due?
6. Do you have the ability to set up a payment plan?
7. What is the cancellation policy?
8. What options are close by for overnight accommodations?
9. How many people can you accommodate?
10. Are there any restrictions to consider, such as no open flames, no pets, no confetti, etc.?
11. Do you have a food/bar minimum?
12. Is there a place to store gifts?
Know Before You Go
There is quite a lot of information you can glean from a wedding venue’s website before even setting foot on the property for a tour. The more research you do ahead of the visit, the more time you’ll have on the tour to talk about the things that you can’t find by looking at a website.
At Legacy Stables and Events, you’ll enjoy a private setting where your wedding party is our priority. We have the flexibility to host wedding ceremonies and receptions of any size, whether you’re looking for a wedding chapel atmosphere or a grand ballroom, planning an intimate gathering, or a large party. We have beautiful outdoor spaces perfect for a cocktail hour, taking pictures, or even hosting the ceremony itself, but with indoor accommodations at the ready in case of inclement weather. We’re also able to provide sound systems and offer catering services, and we can share a list of preferred vendors for any other services you might need for the big day.
Our experienced staff offers plenty of support throughout the process. We’re here to answer any questions you have during the planning process up to the day of the wedding.
If you’re looking for a beautiful setting with all the necessary amenities to host your wedding, look no further than Legacy Stables and Events. Schedule a tour today to meet our team and see for yourself all we have to offer.
