2025 Trends for Wedding Table Décor and Centerpieces: Lush, Elegant and Bold

Centerpieces might not be the first thing that comes to mind when creating your wedding planning to-do list, but they are an important element in creating the atmosphere you want at your reception. You want the tables to be dressed for the occasion just as much as any other part of the wedding! From bud vases filled with delicate roses to tall, stately candle sticks festooned with greenery, the centerpieces and other table décor add beauty to your reception, create a festive atmosphere, and help make your wedding an event to remember.

The Latest Trends in Wedding Décor

The types and styles of table decorations are as varied as the brides themselves, which means you’re sure to find something to fit your taste as you start exploring options for centerpieces. Here are a few of the things we’re finding popular for wedding receptions:

Fruits and veggies take center stage. Turn fruits and vegetables into a 3-D, still-life artwork for your table! From bowls of fruit to tiered stands with layers of color, it brings a rich look to the décor and is something uniquely different from traditional flower arrangements. Look for fruits and vegetables with lots of color and texture to create these displays. Oranges and lemons are popular in the spring and summer months. For fall and winter, darker colors such as red pomegranate and purple grapes make elegant arrangements. You can also use colorful cabbages, pears, persimmons, and artichokes, each bringing depth through interesting textures as well as color.

80s-inspired looks. Think big bows and lots of taffeta – for more than just centerpieces! This look encompasses the whole table. Bows can be placed on the ends of tables, or on the tabletop as a focal point for the centerpiece. Taffeta draped around the tables or encompassing centerpieces creates a lush look.

Texture and layers. Elegant looks that convey a sense of luxury are one of the newer trends in table décor. This is created with long, draped tablecloths, often topped with runners to add more color and texture. Strong linens, plush velvet, and smooth satins, on their own or combined, bring plenty of texture to the table.

Candles. Not only do candles in centerpieces add romantic light to the reception but the candle holders themselves can make a statement. As people turn more toward elegant receptions, tall candle holders, in gold or silver, are finding a prime spot in the center of the table.

Bold colors. From flowers to wedding cakes, colors are having a time to shine at weddings. The table décor is another great place to add a pop of color. Whether it’s bright orange and red or deep, dark greens and blues, decorating with color helps draw the eye and make the view interesting. Bright tablecloths and China with colorful patterns are some ways to add color to your reception, as well as floral arrangements with lots of colorful flowers.

What to Consider in Planning Your Décor

As with any part of your wedding, knowing your budget is important before talking with a florist or looking at other options for creating centerpieces. There are a few other things to think about as you make decisions on what to put on the table tops of your reception.

  • Types and sizes of tables. Non-traditional table shapes are becoming popular for wedding receptions, so if you’re going for a curved look, or jumping on the large circle table bandwagon, plan your centerpieces appropriately. An arrangement spanning the length of a table might work great for long tables set together, whereas something circular in design will work better on the now popular large circle tables of many receptions.
  • The atmosphere of your wedding. You want the feel of your décor to go along with the rest of the wedding, whether it’s a rich black-tie affair or something more casual.
  • Size of individual arrangements. Do you want the head table to have a bigger arrangement than the others? Will every table have the same décor, or will you be doing different types of things at each table? Having an idea of what you want and where it will be placed will help when you talk with the florist and plan out the arrangements.
  • Do-it-Yourself Options. If you opt to create your own centerpieces, keep in mind that it will be a task that has to be completed within a few days of the reception. Flowers and even fruit won’t keep for too long, so plan accordingly.
