How much does a wedding venue cost for about 100 guests? The answer to that is actually a pretty wide range. In North Carolina, reserving a wedding venue for the entire day (8-12 hours) can run anywhere from a few thousand to $15,000 or more. Venue costs vary due to a few factors, including:
- Location. Rural settings might be less expensive than somewhere in a major city.
- Amenities. Venues range from a one-room barn-type building to estates with multiple buildings and even overnight quarters.
- Date. Some venues might have higher rates during the busy season, or provide discounts for off-season dates or weekdays.
All-Inclusive Venues: Breaking Down What It Means
What do you actually get for the price of reserving a wedding venue? If you’re spending thousands of dollars to rent a place, you want to make sure you’re getting your money’s worth.
Some places charge a basic fee just for access to the venue. And that might be all you need. If you’re trying to get by on a very tight budget, you could potentially find a beautiful venue that’s just a basic building with a small kitchen and bathrooms, and you bring the rest.
However, most venues also offer an all-inclusive package. And many bridal couples welcome the extra amenities included with the cost of the wedding venue, as it helps make things easier, not just in planning, but also on the day of the event.
The amenities included with a wedding venue reservation can vary as widely as the price. Basic amenities often include tables and chairs, as well as some assistance with setting up and cleaning up. Other amenities some venues offer include coordinators on the day of the event, to handle parking, set up, and clean up; basic AV equipment; a wedding chapel space for the ceremony; and table coverings.
Tips for Reserving a Wedding Venue
From creating a budget to understanding the venue’s expectations, it’s important to do your research and be knowledgeable about what is included early on in the planning process. Here are a few tips to help you get a good idea of what to budget and how to plan to get the most out of your wedding venue.
- Ask what is included in the cost. Does it include tables and chairs? Coverings and décor?
- What types of services are included or available? Ask about options for AV equipment and whether the venue will provide coordinators for setting up/cleaning up and managing parking.
- What are the alcohol policies? Can you bring your own to the site? Are there licenses needed?
- Find out if the wedding venue has on-site catering and bartending services. It might be included in the package or offered as an add-on.
- Make sure to reserve enough time. Many venues offer half-day or full-day options. Ask if that time includes the setup/ccleanuptime. And be sure to allow some buffer time in your planning. For example, if you expect your ceremony to last around half an hour and you’re reserving a wedding chapel, add at least 15-20 minutes before and after the ceremony for guests to arrive and be seated, nd then for them to move on to the reception.
