The love story of Dominique Ferri and Daniel Bazhaw started out as a summer romance in 2018, when the two were working a summer job at the same place while home for college. Fall came, and Dominique moved back to Buies Creek to finish up her undergraduate degree at Campbell while Daniel headed to the mountains to start a second degree at Western University. The distance couldn’t keep them apart, and after getting engaged on Dominique’s birthday in the spring of 2023, they started making plans for a wedding and a new life together.
Legacy Stables and Events was at the top of their list, in part because of its location. Being from the Triad, Dominique and Daniel had lots of friends and family in the area. But there were plenty of other people traveling from all parts of the state and beyond.
“We loved that Legacy was so close to where a majority of our family is located,” Dominique said. “But also, where it’s located pretty much in the center of the state, it was convenient for many of our friends from college and work, from the mountains or the Triangle area. And it’s also close to PTI airport, which was great for family traveling in from out of state.”
Love at First Sight
Legacy Stables and Events was first on the list of venues to tour because of its location, but it was the property itself that won them over.
Dominique fell in love with the beauty of the estate, from the rolling green lawns to the flowers everywhere. She had a garden-party theme planned for the wedding, and the availability of both indoor and outdoor spaces was also a plus.
After seeing the property and meeting the staff, Dominique and Daniel knew they had found the place for their wedding. “We got in the car, and my mom was with us. All three of us looked at each other and said, ‘This is it,’” Dominique said.
Enjoying the Process
With the venue chosen and the date set, it was time to start getting ready for their April 2025 wedding. Dominique’s advice to brides: leave yourself plenty of time to plan. Having over a year gave her plenty of time to research vendors and find the right match for photographer, wedding coordinator, and entertainment. “When you plan out in advance, it’s more likely that the people you want to work with still have availability on the day of your wedding,” Dominique said. “It keeps you from having to scramble to find someone, or be stuck with a vendor that’s not your first choice.”
Dominique also took advantage of Legacy Stables and Events’ all-inclusive package to help lessen the load of research and planning. The package includes catering, staff from bartenders and servers to security personnel, and all of the tables, chairs, linens, China, and silverware needed. “I know a lot of brides who are so stressed out through the whole process trying to manage all the little details and get everything set up, but Legacy helps take care of so much that I didn’t worry about a thing,” Dominique says.
Experiencing a Day to Remember
The day of the wedding, everything was set up and in place for a springtime extravaganza. The azaleas were in full bloom, and the patio was decorated with flowers from all colors of the rainbow. Even a passing shower couldn’t dampen the bridal couple’s spirits, it was just enough to bring good luck to their marriage. But then, as Dominique was getting ready with her bridesmaids, the zipper broke on her wedding dress. Luckily, she had researched “things to have on your wedding day in case of an emergency,” and was prepared with a sewing kit. Her mom, sister-in-law, and the photographer teamed up to sew her into the wedding gown.
No one could tell a thing as Dominique walked down the aisle at Salem Stallway, joining Daniel at the end, with the doors wide open to allow guests the beautiful view and bring the outdoors into their wedding. The reception followed on the patio with passed hors d’oeuvres and charcuterie boards.
“Thanks to all of the support from Legacy Stables and Events, I got to enjoy my wedding day,” Dominique says. “The staff was so great to work with, and between them and my wedding coordinator, I didn’t have to worry about anything that day except being in the moment.”
