Spring is a popular time of year for weddings, and one of the biggest reasons for that is the weather. Especially here in the South, where summer months are so consistently hot and humid, spring brings almost perfect weather conditions for outdoor events, even if it’s only for a time-period of a few weeks. Low-humidity levels make daytime high temperatures in the 70s or even 80s bearable for most people. And while there are rainy days, the regular afternoon thundershowers of summer haven’t yet set in.
It’s not only the warm temperatures and bringing us outside after a cold, dreary winter. The beauty of the natural world blossoms into a full spectacle in spring. Early in the season Bradford pear trees light up the sky with fluffy white blooms set against a pure-blue sky. Then as they start to fade more flowering trees fill their spot, from the dainty flowers of redbud trees to the pinks and whites of our native dogwoods. And of course, the bright beauty of azaleas make for a wonderful photo backdrop.
Great weather and plenty of natural beauty make spring a perfect time of year for people who have always dreamed of an outdoor wedding, and at Legacy Stables and Events our venue provides beautiful settings for your special occasion. Here are a few tips to keep in mind as you plan your spring wedding:
Choose your date carefully. While there’s no way to predict six to twelve months out what the weather will be on any given day, the best spring weather conditions in the Triad region occur through the months of March, April and May. It just so happens those months tend to be a busy time of year for other holidays and special occasions. Look at a calendar and plan around holidays such as Passover, Easter and even Mother’s Day. You’ll also want to be aware of graduation events and maybe even proms for family and close friends.
Remember Mother Nature in planning for guests. Springtime beauty is not without its hazards. When asking guests to be outside for a few hours it’s nice to provide items such as handkerchiefs, sunscreen and even bug spray. This can be done elegantly and discreetly, with pretty baskets of essentials set out around the area where guests will gather.
Make a rain plan. No matter how carefully you plan your spring wedding, weather is one thing that is completely out of your control. But with the right planning, your day will be perfect no matter what Mother Nature throws your way. Here at Legacy Stables and Events, we’ve seen beautiful weddings go off without a hitch even with a few sprinkles or thunder rumbling up above. Be prepared with umbrellas for the bride and groom and wedding party. Or consider having a venue indoors for the reception, where you can move the ceremony inside as well at a moment’s notice in case of really bad weather. Our event barns are flexible enough to accommodate your needs as they arise.
