The Benefits of Off-Site Training: Legacy Stables and Events Hosts Pepsi Bottling Ventures

As Senior Organizational Development Trainer at Pepsi Bottling Ventures, Neal Stancil facilitates training programs for leadership development and other in-house programs. While there are plenty of conference rooms available in the company’s offices, sometimes he looks to outside venues for training sessions.  Recently, Stancil chose to hold a leadership development training program at Legacy Stables and Events, and he shares some of his thoughts about the experience.

Why did you choose to have this program at an off-site location?

For this training in particular, we were focusing on our leaders within the company. In my experience, I’ve found it is often more productive for them if they can do training away from their daily work environment. They’re able to put all their attention on the training sessions, without the distractions of their day-to-day roles.

Having that change from their typical work environment can also provide a mental break, a way to get away from their stressors in the office and come back refreshed. It is a good way to support our leaders, not just with training but to help improve job satisfaction and morale.

What were your reasons for choosing Legacy Stables and Events for this training session?

One of the deciding factors was the location. We needed a place that was close to our Winston-Salem production facility, but convenient for all of our western division. The estate is easy to access from Interstate 40, which was great for our people travelling from Elkin, Statesville, and Charlotte, as well as those in the Triad region.

In addition to convenience, the venue itself was perfect. We had our training sessions in the Legacy House, which was a beautiful setting. We were on site for four days, each day with a group of 10-12 participants. The house provided an intimate setting for that small group, with plenty of rooms for breaking up into smaller groups. We also enjoyed the dining room, where lunch was provided.

Were there other benefits to having your training session at the Legacy House?

Legacy Stables and Events offers a turnkey experience, which helped make things easy on my end. They were very easy to communicate with through the planning leading up to the event, and on the day the training started, all I had to do was show up. Everything else was taken care of.

We used their catering services to provide breakfast and lunch to our participants, and the food was phenomenal. For this event, we didn’t have a need for much as far as audiovisual and technical support, but what we did need was provided, and it was easy to connect and get our presentations up and going. The whole event was seamless.

The estate at Legacy Stables and Events provides private venues from the intimate setting of the Legacy House to the larger spaces in our Forsyth and Grace Barns. Our support services and flexibility in setting up meeting spaces for large gatherings and breakout sessions help make us a great choice for a variety of types of corporate functions, from training sessions to awards banquets, product launches, and team-building programs.
