Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Piedmont Triad (RMHCPT) provides a vital service for our communities. The 36-bedroom house near Atrium Health Levine Children’s Hospital allows families with children at the hospital to stay nearby while their children receive care. But the house isn’t the only way the foundation helps families. Two Family Rooms, at Cone Health and Novant Health provide a respite area within the hospitals, and hospitality carts with snacks, activity kits, and other pampering items are rolled around to patient rooms.
All of this couldn’t be done without the support of the community, and like many non-profit organizations, the RMHCPT hosts various fundraisers throughout the year to support the house and other outreach programs. Legacy Stables and Events was chosen as the location for the inaugural Wine, Women, and Shoes event, RMHCPT’s spring fundraiser, an event coordinated together with Studio 440.
The Perfect Setting: Forsyth Barn
Wine, Women, and Shoes is a four-hour event filled with lots of food, activities, and of course, wine. Legacy Stables and Events was chosen as the setting for the event because of its size, flexibility, and unique atmosphere. “When you walk into the Forsyth Barn, where we hosted our event, the rich wood paneling and elegant lighting really sets the scene for an elegant evening,” Kathi Grenough, director of operations at RMHCPT. “It’s much more unique than a typical conference center.”
The Forsyth Barn was chosen for the RMHCPT event for its size and flexibility, which allowed organizers to set everything up for the multi-faceted event. The evening started off with a vendor fair, silent auction, and wine tasting. The Grand Ballroom was partitioned off so guests could enjoy milling around, sampling hors d’oeuvres and wine, and bidding on the items. The barn opens up to a patio, overlooking the beautiful estate of Legacy Stables and Events. “It was nice to be able to use the patio area,” Grenough says. “The weather was nice and people could go out for some fresh air and quiet conversations.”
The second part of the evening consisted of a plated dinner, a live auction, and a fashion show. The size of the Grand Ballroom in the Forsyth Barn allowed for the dinner to be set up and waiting for guests when it was time to be served. The convenience of the event space allows for different aspects of an event to be partitioned off, so multiple activities can be accomplished in one space with ease and without sacrificing the beauty of the surroundings.
Convenient and Accessible
One of the primary reasons RMHCPT chose to hold the Wine, Women, and Shoes event at Legacy Stables and Events was the location. Supporters of the organization live in both Winston-Salem and Greensboro, as well as surrounding areas. The event center is not only close to downtown Winston-Salem, it’s also conveniently located near the interstate, making it easily accessible from all parts of the Piedmont Triad.
An added benefit of hosting an event at Legacy Stables and Events is the ample amount of parking. “Parking is often something that flies under the radar when choosing an event location, but it is really nice for guests not to have to worry about finding a place on a street or in a parking garage, as often happens with downtown locations,’ Grenough says.
Turn-Key Solutions and Customer Service
Hosting a fundraising event for more than 250 guests involves a lot of logistics, from choosing a menu to coordinating with vendors to setting up the day of the event. Grenough and her team at RMHCPT enjoyed the turnkey experience provided by Legacy Stables and Events. The team at Legacy worked closely with Studio 440 to make sure all the details were taken care of and the event went off without a hitch.
Regular meetings with Sondra Warren, Director of Corporate and Wedding Services, and the team at Legacy Stables and Events, helped Grenoughand her team feel confident throughout the planning process. “We really appreciated all the services they provided, and having them to work with us provided a real calming effect whenever I would get a little nervous about hosting this event for the first time,” Grenough said.
When you host a corporate or non-profit event at Legacy Stables and Events, you don’t have to worry about anything except the guest list. Our team at Legacy works with vendors and entertainers, we can do all the décor even for specialized events, and we have resources for sound and video.
“We had such a great experience with Legacy Stables and Events for our Wine, Women, and Shoes event that we’ve already booked the location for next year,” Greenough says. “There was a lot of good energy in the space and our guests were all complimentary of the event, from how open and welcoming the Forsyth Barn was to the food served and convenience of the location.”
The Wine, Women and Shoes event, like many non-profit fundraisers, is open to the public. It’s just one of many great events hosted at Legacy Stables and Events.
